It’s been a month now that we are all confined, stylistic trends are asserted during this confinement at home. Many relayed on social networks, they are now essential as a clothing response to health obligations. A colorful palette of neutral tones absorbs all screens: white, beige, sand, gray and black offers a return to simplicity, sobriety and calm. A vision of a humble and minimal fashion is felt through these times of resilience.
Lying down on her sofa or in bed, sitting at the table or at her desk, the new daily routines make us review our clothing habits and perceptions. Some pieces are disappearing: the outerwear on the front line (coat, parka, k-way, overcoat, etc.), the tailoring that was the star of the shelves is becoming less popular, and above all the accessories are becoming derisory (all kinds of city shoes and handbags). But a new fashion trend emerges, mixing different styles.
LOUNGEWEAR ET KNITT
First of all we notice a real desire for comfy, large and warm outfits in which we can easily move throughout the day, inspired bu the loungewear style. These basic clothing designed for weekends to chill at home, are now our best outfits of the day. It’s true, what better way to watch a good moovie between plaids and cushions or to read your old classics lying on your cosy carpet. The main material of this period is undoubtedly the knit, both knitted or jersey version, available in various points, it is absolutely played on all pieces: oversized sweaters, tight tops, bras, high waist tube skirts, loose sulotte-skirt, long dresses close to the body and crop cardigans.
Whether to indulge in sport (Home bike, yoga, fitness, etc.) or to spend time at home, there are also several pieces inspired by sportswear or training styles. If the sweatshirt appeared in our city wardrobe as a it-product, thanks to the brand Vêtement a few years ago, there is still and always a keen interest about it during this moment of crisis. In a loose extra long version or in a crop, zipped version, or simply a round ribbed neck, with a pattern, embroidery or simply plain, the real novelty is how you can wear it: with its soulmate the jogging pant. Indeed, we see ont the networks this new matching uniform everywhere. Sweatshirt and jogging are in knit or jersey plain and the same color, worn together for the happiness of our little body completely free inside!
Finally, who would have thought that leggings would leave the yoga room to become our best friend forever? Well, brands compete in creativity to bring us leggings that are both efficient but also worked like real everyday pants. And we say thank you, because we’re not going to lie: it’s still super comfortable (even to eat a bar of chocolate, twisted on your balcony, looking for a bit of the sun)!
Lingerie becomes a real bias during this period of confinement, some will choose not to wear it anymore, preferring to take advantage of it to leave them a touch of freedom and others will take advantage of it for themselves making a unisex assortment with their lover (the style : high-waisted thong / bralette & boxer shorts / tank top Calvin Klein wins the show on Instagram, either reinforcing the seductive that is in us by wearing a satin nightie or camisole, body / microfiber thong, and many lace bralettes. And the real trend seems to be the bra, little acclaimed in the city, once worn within her house it takes all its importance.Many RTW brands have released their version: microfiber, cotton jersey, knitt , satin etc.
JEWELRY & MULES
Finally, if the accessories are the real losers of this confinement because remaining completely useless, there is one that is doing well: jewelry! More and more women are associating sportwear or loungewear with refined jewelry: necklace in running chains or with different links in gold or silver version, necklace with pearl charms or logo medallions, bracelet / wrist or ankle chain, a spectacular earrings, and a real novelty: the body jewelry, either a chain bra or a waist chain, just to bring charm and delicate sensuality to our sporty outfits.
The shoe seems far behind us too, this strange object of desire is very superfluous today. The good part is given to slippers of all types, the famous Birkenstock and to this new mule / tong or mule / clapper! Seen on catwalks before, it is actually well accessible today in all RTW stores.
Finally, it is worth highlighting the creative adaptability of certain brands to react to this upheaval. This is the case, for example, of Zara who is proposing a new photographic campaign made directly by models at their homes. This results in photos taken on the iPhone in selfie mode or DIY version, showing natural models in interiors as close as possible to reality. Nasty Gal and Mango also offer “Stay Home” lines, bringing together a selection of special containment items, mainly composed of revisited sportswear and loungewear styles.
