Ka Wa Kei is the new genius of fashion.
A talent on his way… This young graduated of Royal College of Art in London (Men’s fashion master degree in 2015) is the revelation of the exhibition “Double Je” which TOOK place at the Palais de Tokyo at Paris from the 24th of march until the 16th of may 2016.
After winning several prestigious prices like the Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award and the Hong Kong Fashion Designer’s Association Talent Award ; Ka Wa Key ‘s work was admitted at London’s Men Fashion Week. There we can see his Master collection ((he won a finalist place with it at the H&M Design Award) “NO ASIANS PLZ !” inspired by a profile description on the gay dating app Grindr. We can see the desire of mixing Orient and Occident like a “RICE QUEEN”. A way to question his own cultural heritage.
A poetic virility … Ka Wa Kei offers a men wardrobe, based on large and masculine cuts with trousers knotted at the waist, shirt, sweater, jackets and long coats.
A lyrical sensuality … A perfect symbiosis between Asia and Europe full of subtlety through clothes created in textile mixes and applications to hide or reveal the skin in a poetic and irresistible way.
Between heritage and mutation … A hybridization that we also can see in his textile work, that was realized by himself in his studio. He mixed traditional technics like lacemaking, embroidery, knitting with new audacious substances like silicone , surprising and an invitation for touching.
Ka Wa Kei Chow: An aesthetic considerably romantic and revolutionary modern!
