THE ERA OF LIKES IS OVER!

In Australia the fight against the abolition of “likes” has begun! Instagram users will no longer be able to know how many people have liked or viewed one of their posts. Indeed, a test update has been launched by Instagram in six countries around the world. An update that plans to remove the display of the number of “like” per publication. Mia Garlick, Facebook’s policy director for Australia and New Zealand, said “that Instagram should be a place where people feel comfortable expressing themselves rather than being judged.”.

READING MINDS IS COMING SOON?

Elon Musk has not finished surprising us, his young start-up Neuralink has revealed his progress in creating a wireless implantable device capable of reading in thought. Neuralink’s goal is to make human intelligence work with artificial intelligence in symbiosis. The start-up has therefore created very small “threads” that can be injected into the brain to detect neuronal activity. Dr. Matthew McDougall, chief neurosurgeon at Neuralinkn said the device would be “only for patients with untreated serious illnesses”. The first clinical trial will target patients with complete paralysis and will involve the installation of four Neuralink implants into the brains of these patients if approved by the FDA in 2020.

THE LOST ONE…

Vincent Haegele, director of Libraries Compiegne, came across drafts of an unabashed philosophical narrative written in 1820 by Pierre-Marie Desmarest, a revolutionary and member of the Napoleonic police. The novel reveals a great modernism, oscillating between visionary science fiction and social and political satire. The story reveals an advanced African civilization, “unknowingly prefiguring the famous Black Panther comics” according to the publisher. Several passages resonate in our time confirming that progress and technological advances were already scary in the XIX century.

5$ THE PRICE OF YOUR FACE FOR GOOGLE?

This is what happened to this American engineer. George was enjoying his day when he was approached by Google employees for a collect of data. They explain that the purpose of this collect is to improve the next generation of phone unlocking by facial recognition. The experiment lasted 5 min watch in hand. George had to use the “selfie” mode of the phone that had been provided by the “googlologues” and move his face to provide them with clichés from all possible angles. In return, Google offered him a $ 5 gift card to use at Amazon or Starbucks!
